Like clockwork...

I was reminded of the tendency of other humans to rely on one another. The whole schema is a series of dominoes. Someone you never met does something that causes the train to be late. You are late for work. This causes another chain of events.

But, we are human. We can mitigate. Dominoes that can step out of line when need be would break the chain. We do sometimes try to hold firm. That is our most common mistake. Trying to pretend you are not domino is silly. Trying to imagine that cause and effect does not apply to you is delusional.

So we call the office. We tell them we are running late. If there's enough time, they can mitigate. The train is going to be late. You can't change that. That domino has already fallen. If you are sick during the flu season, stay home. You cannot uninfect yourself. You have fallen. You can choose to bring others down one way or another. If we call out, the work still has to get done. If you bring the flu to work, a half-dozen people call out.
