On Saturday two people were joined according to our legal system. As
my brother noted, they were actually joined some time ago. The moment
they looked into one another's eyes and thought "forever". My sister
has now joined the ranks of the married.
I was given the opportunity to read during the event. I had read it
a dozen times, written every word, but memory left me somewhere on that
beach. Although I had not anticipated that, I was prepared for it.
The week passed too quickly. I packed on Sunday night and returned
to this place I think of as home. There are a million stories from
those 5 days. In the end though, they are already passing away. The
story is simple really. John Scaringelli and Megan Musick were married
in Brigantine, New Jersey. The event was witnessed by some 200 persons.
As for me, I saw love. I was surrounded by it. It poured forth in
all directions. The walls that separate people were cast aside.
I now have 3 brothers according to the world at large. That's just fucking cool.

I forgot to write... (Originally published on January 22, 2008)
It's been a while. But as my sister and I are were discussing this
evening, we haven't had time to process it all. So let's just start
with a bird's eye view. Since I last wrote, my life has been filled
with more magick than I thought possible.
For those of you who are not aware, on December 29, 2007 I ended up with a 4th brother. That's right, all 3 of my sisters are now married. 7 has become 11 in 2 short years. My mother will need a bigger mantelpiece for all the stockings.
Strangely, New Year's Eve did not effect me. I was in Mt. Juliet, TN when the year came to a close. The days without sleep caught up to me around 10:30 or so, and I was awoken by fireworks and cheering. In a way, I am not ready to say goodbye to 2007. I don't know if I ever truly will. Many years seem to be merely part of they cycle, a combination of beginnings and endings. 2007 was a year of birth.
Many of my postings in 2007 related changes in the lives of others, the magick reflected from others. My first of 2008 started out that way as well. But something has happened to me recently. On a road in the night, I was overcome. I still don't know if the driver saw me or could hear the change in my voice as we sang to one another. It matters not. I couldn't have stopped the tears if I wanted to. I had run into magick in it's pure form.
I had fallen in love.
For those of you who have met Liz, you know I really didn't have a choice. It's amazing it took this long. I must be quite the cynic. :-)
I could go on forever. The last year could fill a memoir. The last month could fill another. But baking protein bars, running a 6-minute mile, and spinning poi in the middle of the Nashville airport all seem a little insignificant right now.
As for the large issues facing our world as a whole, I've found a better forum for discussing those. :-)

Oh my (Originally published on January 24, 2008)
I would like to thank Kilowatts for a reminder. One sent to him
through the ages. Charley Chaplin reminding us about life. I sometimes
forget the lessons I have learned. I sometimes forget that it's all a
cosmic joke.
But every once in a while, I laugh... I laugh with an earnestness that amazes people. I laugh as if the world is but a figment of my imagination. I laugh is if I could die tomorrow., because.... well, I can.
But, that sounds nihilistic. We fear nihilism. We have all run into those who were thinking of or did take their own life. But knowledge by its nature is dangerous. If we ignored all that was dangerous, we would still live in caves (assuming we got that far).
But here I am again. Looking at the world in amazement. It all seems so simple. The paths greed, hate, anger, and despair take are obvious. The paths love, faith, and hope go down are unpredictable.
In the end, we started out as talking monkeys. Computers surrounded in flesh. However, somewhere along the way, we became more. We broke the bonds. We left the physical plane. We took ourselves out of the evolutionary cycle. At that moment we became limitless. We stumbled across the very energy that drives the universe. We learned to manipulate things to our will. We became something else; something that could not be calculated or quantified.
So I ask everyone to look around. Take joy in the unpredictable. Take joy in those things that logic can't explain. In my limited experience, those were the only things that mattered.
